In February 2019, Delta Utility Services, Inc., moved its office to Sparks, Maryland. The new office allows us to work together more efficiently and host customers more comfortably.

Spacious Layout

The new space features an open layout that accommodates our expanding company. With 3,000 square feet, the bigger office can fit our growing staff all on one floor. This allows us to enjoy a more welcoming, collaborative environment, with even better communication between our field and office staff.

The new office is conveniently located just 5 minutes north on York Road from our previous office on Shawan Road. When our field workers and customers come to visit, they’ll enjoy easier access and greater parking availability.

We are proud to be one of the 13 graduating firms from BGE’s 2018 Focus Forward Class. The ceremony was held on September 26th at BGE’s headquarters in Baltimore City, in their lovely remodeled Smart Energy meeting room.

Baltimore Gas & Electric launched the Focus Forward class in 2013 to help educate small, diversity certified businesses how to better compete for contract opportunities and grow their businesses.

We appreciated this unique educational opportunity, and Amy Burns provided feedback on the experience, which was quoted in BGE’s article:

On May 11, 2018, Delta attended MWMCA’s 15th Annual Spring Breakfast Meeting/Business Showcase Expo. The event was held at Martin’s West in Baltimore, MD.

Networking Opportunities

The expo provided Matchmaking Meeting Sessions, during which small business representatives could meet with prime firms privately for up to 10 minutes. Participating companies included prime contractors, utility companies, government entities, and more.

MWMCA

The event was hosted by Md. Washington Minority Companies Association (MWMCA), which originated in 2002 to advocate for minority and women construction trade contractors. MWMCA has a unique offering of services with one mission in mind, “Connecting Large & Small Businesses to Work Together.”

On Sunday, May 21, 2017, Delta Utility Services, Inc. hosted its second annual Family Fun Day at Hersheypark. We invited employees and their families to come together for a day of relaxation and festivities. Everyone enjoyed the thrilling roller coasters, rides, and the delicious food catered by Hersheypark.

Family Fun Day is the brainchild of Amy Burns. When she became president in 2016, she wanted to show how much the company valued their employees. So she started the tradition of an annual Family Fun Day. “We like providing opportunities for employees to have fun and enjoy relaxing with each other,” she shared. We’re looking forward to another Family Fun Day next year.

Leaders in Sustainability

In September we sent Vito Capuano and Stephen Burns to the Electric Utility Industry Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance (EUISSCA) 2016 Conference in New Orleans. This was an opportunity to learn from industry leaders in sustainability. The presentations exhibited applications of sustainable operations, vendor selection, and tools to improve sustainability. Some of the vendors that we regularly work with presented how their products are sustainably manufactured, how sustainability has precipitated product improvement and cost savings, and how the environment has benefited.

Sustainable Operations and Supply Choices

Thanks to the presentations and materials available from EUISSCA, Delta continues to learn and incorporate the best practices of utility companies from across the United States into its operations and supply choices. Delta is pleased to report that its vendors have implemented improvements toward sustainable manufacturing.

This conference exhibited how excitement is strong for sustainable products and services. We share in the interest of an improved sustainability program and offer our pledge of continued support for the Electric Utility Industry Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance.

As a leader in the utility industry, we’re always eager to learn about the latest developments in our field and to implement them in our work. One way we keep on the forefront of what’s happening is by attending industry-essential conferences. We’re excited to participate in the upcoming 2016 Alliance Sustainable Sourcing Conference in New Orleans.

This 2-day conference (September 28–29) is presented by the Electric Utility Industry Sustainable Supply Chain Alliance. The Alliance is a leader in sustainability, with a vision to improve the utility supply chain for future generations. We share their commitment to finding cost-effective solutions and to advancing best industry practices.

Networking Opportunities

We look forward to networking with other electrical utility companies that will be attending. This national conference will provide opportunities to connect through more intimate group interactions.

Joint Sustainability Efforts

Protecting the environment is important to us, and this conference will teach us how to be even more effective in our efforts. We want to contribute as much as we can to sustainability in the utility industry.
